Who is the greatest player ever? Believe it or not, it's not Michael Jordan, Julius Erving, or Magic Johnson. It's a name that seems to get overlooked when "experts" talk of the basketball greats. It's Pete Maravich. | Pistol Pete was the greatest offensive player to ever play. While most greats are remembered for one move,ex. skyhook and no-look pass, Pete had an endless list of dazzling moves. Unfortunatly, Pete never played on a winning pro team, with the exception of the Celtics during his last year of playing. Even though he did make numerous all-star teams and lead the league in scoring one year, he never really found his true niche in the NBA. Pistol Pete retired after ten years of NBA basketball. To sum up his short life after basketball, Pete found religion and preached heavily until he died tragically in 1988. So when you think back on all of the great stars of basketball, remember the Pistol.
